Welcome to Notes From Erin, a newsletter about all things music and reading-related. If you like what you see, consider subscribing - and add me on Instagram or Twitter.
This week will be a little on the short side, and I’m trying something different this week with a thread vs. an actual newsletter because I wanted some recommendations.
Two of the things I love most about writing this newsletter are sharing some of the things that I am listening to, which are currently Sinead Harnett’sReady is Always Too Late re-release(three new songs) and Amber Mark’s debut album, Three Dimensions Deep.
Also, being able to share some of the things I am reading - which for January was a pretty lengthy list:
Yolk by Mary H.K. Choi
Blowing My Way to The Top: How to Break the Rules, Find Your Purpose, and Create the Life and Career You Deserve by Jen Atkin
Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself by Nedra Glover Tawwab
Going There by Katie Couric
My Body by Emily Ratajkowski
Skye Falling by Mia McKenzie (my favorite from the month)
Sigh, Gone: A Misfit’s Memoir of Great Books, Punk Rock, and the Fight to Fit In by Phuc Tan
The Wreckage of My Presence by Casey Wilson
Please share some of the things that you are listening to or reading in the thread below. I will add some of the suggestions to next week’s newsletter as well.
Powerful memoir: Beautiful Country, by Qian Julie Wang. At age 7, she and her parents escaped the cultural revolution in China to New York City, where they lived in poverty, undocumented. Also reading the novel: The Girl With the Louding Voice, by Abi Dare. Both books are stories about strong young women determined to make better lives for themselves.
