What did M tell H?
I don't know why I'm stuck on these nicknames but lets talk the Meghan and Harry Doc plus White Lotus.
I wanted to start this week’s newsletter by saying thank you to everyone who wrote me a note or texted me about last week’s newsletter on the faux gift guide, which included nothing but books. I appreciated all the notes. If you haven’t read that newsletter, you can check it out here:
Now, to this week's newsletter.
For this week’s newsletter, I wanted to discuss two things: Meghan & Harry's Netflix documentary series and the White Lotus finale. Let's start with Meghan and Harry's docuseries.
As mentioned a few weeks ago, Meghan and Harry (nicknames: M and H) have a series of offerings from their production company, Archewell, and this is their first offering from their Netflix partnership. For the series' first three episodes, the pair show intimate details about their love story and their lives relating to the royal family. When I learned this would be released, I was excited because I'm a girl who may be overly intrigued by the royal family, but Meghan and Harry were more candid than I expected.
I thought the episodes were good and very fleshed out. I learned a lot about the pair from watching the episodes, including how they met—although through Instagram, it wasn’t like Harry hopped into her DM’s like the internet has you thinking. Sorry boos, there’s a good chance you will NOT meet a prince in your DMs, although you could meet him at the club. I enjoyed that Meghan’s mom Doria had a platform to speak about how the media treated her and her daughter, as well as them discussing the obstacles with their courtship, including the media, race, and coming from different worlds. I think
of did a great job summarizing my thoughts about the episodes here.Obviously, with documentaries of this type, there comes criticism of both the content and the people. As you would expect, some of the social media/website commentaries about the series thus far have been a little rough. We all know the internet is the land of everyone has an opinion, but bruh, some of those comments were harsh and mean, honestly. I saw rude commentary around these areas:
Meghan showed disrespect to the royals by how she curtsied. Like, as an American, when is the last time you actually curtsied outside of the gym? I suppose it was around the same time you asked cursive.
Meghan has to Google things about the royals. Why else does Google exist? We are living in the AAJ days. That acronym means After-Ask-Jeeves days. Clever right?
Harry and Meghan are hypocrites. The argument here has been that Meghan and Harry said they wanted privacy, yet they created a docuseries that has the adverse effect. I would say that this is a little different solely because they are sharing their story on their own terms.
Curious to see what the new episodes available now will share. Also, let me know your thoughts on the episodes in this chat available on the Substack app.
Now to White Lotus. Sorry, but there will be spoilers.
Please scroll down if you haven’t watched the finale yet.

Watching the finale on Sunday night, one acronym that kept coming to my mind was: WTF? I couldn’t get the phrase out of my mind because. Honestly, wtf?
At a high level, I really appreciated this season. I did like the first season, but I think the characters in this season had more depth than in the previous season. All the characters had something going on, but my favorite character of the season what Daphne, who Instagram told me was a Libra, like me.
I’m sure there’s a little bias in there (#SuttonHive Bold Type Stan forever), but her storyline was one of the most interesting. Whenever I hear Daphne talk about her fuck-boy of a husband, I feel like I can hear Sza singing cursive songs in my ear (👋🏾
), and I truly and honestly appreciate her mantra (she never said it this way) about finding peace and do you approach the relationship. She is confident in who she is, and I enjoyed seeing that play out. I also have so many unanswered questions surrounding this character. I listened to a podcast, and they said that it was clear Cameron wasn't the father of her kids from how he was all up in his teeth flossing when she was on facetime with the kids - he has very strong teeth. I also was curious about what happened when she went to the island with Ethan, to which Will Sharpe, who plays Ethan, said:That is open to interpretation. But I feel like whatever happened, in a literal sense, that moment between them is definitely a moment of connection. It’s a moment of intimacy. I think there’s something about Daphne’s sense of self, the accommodation she has found with who she is, and how she’s living. Something about that, I think, affects Ethan.
Now to the finale. I feel like, for how good the season was; the finale was somewhat lackluster, which is where my WTF comes from on two different fronts:
First: Tanya.
RIP. What a way to leave the island!
Instead of taking the stairs or walking to the back of the bus, Tanya decides to jump off the yacht and ultimately dies when she hits her head. Like, why, sis? I know that when you’re nervous, your logic sometimes leaves you, but that didn’t make any sense. I guess the silver lining is that she went out on her own terms, but Golddigging Greg still gets the money.
I would also like to say that I did tell people my theory was that Tanya would be the killer —or Portia, but I also didn’t think she would die on her own merit.
Second: Alfie, the Simp
Or sucker. Obviously, she only wanted the money. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I’m interested to see what happens in season three and if there are any repeat guests to the White Lotus. In the meantime, here are a few other things I thought were worth sharing this week.
Loved this Revolt Panel with Michelle Obama, Tiny Lawson, Kelly Rowland, Winnie Harlow, and HER, moderated by Angie Martinez.
Although I mentioned her above, I feel like SZA’s new album SOS is lackluster. I think this album could’ve been 10-12 songs vs. 23 if every song, or half of the songs on the album, weren’t going to be amazing. However, I really enjoy “Used” featuring Don Toliver and “Smoking on my Ex Pack.”
Interesting read about what Paris means to Black People.
Honestly, the passing of Stephen “tWitch” Boss really broke my heart. I remember first seeing him on So You Think You Can Dance; he was my absolute favorite on the show. I pray for him, his family, and everyone that loved him. This is a reminder to extend kindness and compassion to people when you can because you never know what people are going through.
Rolled my eyes as I read this. Elon is annoying, but also like a trainwreck that you keep watching.
That’s it for this week. I’ll be back next week.
