I waited to send this newsletter until today so I could gloat that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the 2020 Presidential Election. In my heart I always knew this was going to be a thing because I stay prayed up but also because I knew people were forced to move and vote because of how divisive Donald Trump has been during his presidency. I’m hype and honestly it’s the democracy for me — this could be used out of context as I’m just trying to keep hip like the Tik Tokers. It’s just a great time to be alive and to witness history being made once again.
The win of Biden/Harris is very important to me for a few reasons:
Joe Biden is a living example of what Aaliyah sang about in “Try Again.” He ran for President three times and finally on his last try he won the presidency. Talk about having a vision. I am proud that he never gave up on his dreams and I think as a leader of this country where many people are trying to find ways to be optimistic during a global pandemic and work towards their goals/dreams seeing our president never giving up on his goals is aspirational.
Kamala Harris is a triple minority: a woman, a Black woman, and an Indian Woman and clearly personifies what America is - diverse. I have been a supporter of her for many years — she’s from my hometown and we have the same birthday. I am so happy that little girls have someone to look up to that looks like them in one way or another. As they say, representation matters and it does.
Biden has already unveiled his priorities and transition plans but I’m really looking forward to seeing what they do. I also had some pettiness in my heart - after all my life hashtag is #prettyandpetty and started a playlist that Trump can use when he cleans up his crib.
In the comments, please let me know what the Biden/Harris win means for you OR if you have any songs that you’d like to dedicate to Trump.
On the other side of this historic and beautiful weekend, I was very sad to hear about the passing of one my favorite beau’s and honestly the trivia GOAT Alex Trebek. Jeopardy has always been a constant in my life. I’ve watched Jeopardy for as long as I can remember.
Some of my fondest moments growing up are watching Jeopardy with my favorite aunt who was extremely loud and vocal with all the incorrect answers. She’d babysit me and say things like “What is Chocolate Alex?” when the answer was clearly something like Butter. Great times. I will miss Alex tremendously even though we never met, he was always in my house so it feels like the loss of a dear friend, or mentor.
Here are some other things I thought were worth sharing this week:
Please do yourself a favor and listen to WizKid’s new album, Made in Lagos. I love it so much. It makes me want to dance and also feel like I need to go on vacation. Also hate to admit that I’m kind of on the Brene Brown train but her new podcast Dare to Lead has so many gems so far — highly suggest.
Twitter similarly gives us a false sense of being present—only to all the horrors of the world. Things have gone too far off the rails for us to pretend Instagram is still real life, but for a majority of users, it’s unclear real life is what they’re looking for at the moment.
I needed more clarity on this so I went to the Googles and learned more about what QAnon was.
A common thread among many of the QAnon theories is that there exists a group of “elites”—George Soros, the Clintons, and other enemies of Donald Trump—who are responsible for horrible deeds, and the president is working covertly to stop them.

Please tell me you’ve watched The Vow on HBO about this cult. Bruhhhhhhhhhhhh. That’s all I will say. Well also, BRUUHHHHHHH WTF. Now I’m done.
I don’t know if I’m really going to be staying in the House forever, or if I do stay in the House, what that would look like. I don’t see myself really staying where I’m at for the rest of my life. I don’t want to aspire to a quote-unquote higher position just for the sake of that title or just for the sake of having a different or higher position. I truly make an assessment to see if I can be more effective. And so, you know, I don’t know if I could necessarily be more effective in an administration, but, for me that’s always what the question comes down to.
That’s all for this week — running out of your inbox like Biden.
Don’t forget you were born in the same hospital and same delivery (well ok that’s a stretch) as VP Harris😉 among another fact that you failed to mention 🌸💚 but I’ll leave that one along... 😘
