I had a very long and random newsletter to share today about this Jeopardy contestant’s love of birds, but honestly, the only bird I am thinking about today is Twitter.
RIP to the platform that was Twitter.
It’s not technically dead, but with platforms like Spill and Threads that launched last night coming into the fold, I can’t see how it will sustain itself. Elon really messed up a good thing. I had such a great time on Twitter when it was new and shiny. I met some of my lifelong friends on the platform. I met some of my favorite musicians on the platform, I was even on Big Pooh’s (Little Brother) Twitter header for a while.
But yes, curious to see how the social worlds will work out. I am on both Spill and Threads - hit me up at bellametaphor, and plan to write about them next week.
But in the meantime, here are a few other things I thought were worth sharing today:
My summer playlist is so good. I will eventually add it to Apple, but in the meantime, here is the Spotify link.
If you've been here for a while, you know that I'm into scams. Like not into them, but I find the audacity of the scammers to be intriguing (I wrote about that here, here, and here), but the saga of Caroline Calloway is something I keep reading about. I saved and devoured all these articles: The Essay That Started It All, Caroline Calloway Survived Cancellation. Now She's Doubling Down. The Cult of Caroline Calloway Can't Stop Taking the Bait.
If you are a coffee kid on a budget like myself, my friend Caroline introduced me to Jot, and I'm pretty excited to try it out. Shamelessly, I discovered that Halle Berry was also on the Jot train, which I found interesting.
Although season 2 ended grimly, I am looking forward to season 3 of The Morning Show, and here's what we know so far. One thing I am anticipating is that Nicole Beharie will be joining the cast.
I have been watching And Just Like That, but unfortunately, I am not enjoying it. There are too many different storylines happening at once. Despite this, I appreciate the show's diversity, especially with the amazing Nicole Ari Parker. However, some of the storylines have strayed too far from the original, which can be overwhelming. Nonetheless, I am eagerly waiting for Aiden and Samantha's appearance. On a positive note, I recently enjoyed a Sarah Jessica Parker profile about why she loves playing Carrie.
Last TV-related thing - I am curious and excited about how Jenna Lyons will be on The Real Housewives of New York.
That’s it for this week. Look forward to catching you this weekend for the weekend digest.
