Special edition today.
I don’t have much to say but just wanted to say I’m so excited for the new music that came out today - so here I am writing on my coffee break. Here are the tunes/albums/EPs you should add to your rotation this weekend and until the next time we speak.
Lianne La Havas’ new self-titled album. You guys, it’s so good. Lianne’s voice is like butter, or money, or whatever word you want to put there. I’m trying to find a word that differs from amazing because I’ve been told that’s not that descriptive. But love. I’ve replayed “Read My Mind” literally 13 times this morning and I keep doing this off beat hand up two-step to it.
Typically, Pink Sweat$ doesn’t do it for me. Not sure why. It could be because it just seems hot in there to me (slightly inappropriate reference to sweats and heat) but he just released his new EP The Prelude and I’m obsessed with “Icy.”
I will always stand by the fact that my homeland, the Bay Area has some of the most talented people. We are movers, shakers, and visionaries - it’s true. One of my favorite artists coming from the bay is Duckwrth. It’s been nice to see him grow from seeing him opening for shows back in the day, to releasing projects that I can listen to from start to finish. He just released a new single, “Coming Closer” featuring Julia Romano and G.L.A.M. He went off. This song really makes me want to excessively body roll and dance by lots of plants. Also just get hip on him - he’s tight - these are my other favorite songs by him: “King King” “MICHUUL.” and “I’m Dead.”
Also, Joey Bada$$ is back. Earlier this week I saw him post a tweet about his return and from the photo I thought he was going to be doing a Bobby Brown cover, but that’s not it. He released a new EP, The Light Pack, and it definitely has me wanting more. I love “Shine.”
Loving this Soulection Radio Show episode with ROMderful.
As always, I’ve added my favorite music from this week, and other weeks in my playlists. Check them out: Mellow and Everything.
Also, if you have Apple Music - my friend made a playlist of the best songs for an Entanglement. My suggestion made the cut - John Legend “She Don’t Have To Know.” Listen to it here
That’s all.
