Shout-out to the ladies
Hi , I'm going back to a weekly cadence right now because I need something else to do because I'm not trying to become an Instagram alcoholic with strong arms (all the challenges) right now - so here we are.
Going to shake it up a little bit though. I keep seeing people do these ten thing list newsletters, and i'm going to do that so I don't just go on, and on, like Erkyah Badu -- watch her quarantine concert. Here are the ten things I thought were worth sharing this week:
1. I feel like Dua Lipa is the only pop princess we have these days, thus, I love her very much. I like that her sound is kind of like what you get when you mix Studio 54, with Pop music and the Sahara. Whenever I listen to her, I feel myself doing the most - this time, while listening to her new album Future Nostalgia, I kept having random dance breaks in the mirror. I love the album especially: "Pretty Please" and "Break My Heart."
Additionally, I would like to say that when I listen to Dua Lipa, I can't tell if I want to spin or do a figure eight. Speaking of figure eights, I've learned how to do the "Savage" TikTok dance. I watched a YouTube tutorial and now i'm a pro. I think I'm going to make my corona and chill side hustle come to life by being a contemporary dance instructor on YouTube or Instagram Live. Or, I may just start a motivational podcast.
2. Also, loving the new albums from Little Dragon New Me, Same Us, Jessie Reyez' Before Love Came To Kill Us, which is the first project I've ever listened to her. Additionally, loving Knxwledge's album recognizing one of the best years, 1988. The song "minding... my business" featuring Durand Bernarr and RoseGold is so good. Another great song to check out is Alina Baraz' "More Than Enough."
3. Following the guidance of New York's sex guide during these times, keep in mind, you are your own safest sex partner.
4. Love the idea of a social social distancing club.
5. I watched Uncorked over the weekend, and I loved it. I would give you a synopsis but my friend Chasity wrote about it for Essence.
6. Are you or someone you know looking for a job right now? Here's a list of companies hiring remotely. Share!
7. Discovered a few new podcasts that I'm loving: Even the Rich, Culture Call, and InCharge with DVF.
8. Also, Still Processing is back, finally.
9. Here are 18 ways to cope with the forced corona chill vibe we are on, if you're a travel lover.
10. "... there are many positive impacts from remote work beyond just not catching a virus. Working from home cuts commute time, which is often wasted time. It’s green, since it reduces the fossil fuel burn and carbon release of car commutes. It erases the high cost of business travel. Remote work can benefit businesses in other valuable ways. It can improve diversity. Any major company, especially in tech, will tell you that one of its top business concerns is a lack of talent. Attracting and retaining good people is critical. Remote work can open the door to talent pools that are more diverse in three key areas: gender, accessibility, and race." Read how COVID-19 could be helping with diversity - kind of a stretch, but still an interesting read.
