Throwing the Confetti
Happy Tuesday.
Hope you had a great weekend. I relaxed so much over the weekend, and it was needed. I binged about two seasons of Sex and the City in bed, with coffee, and tea and lots of water. I also went to see Raveena and honestly, her fans made me love her music ever more. The show was open for all ages, and the young people in there (said like an almost 31-year-old – hey libra season – send gifts (gel tip pins, and books and money and coffee gift cards) were in awe which made me be like AWWWW.
Listen to her album here if you haven’t.
Here are some things I believe are worth reading and listening to this week. Let me know your thoughts.
THINGS TO LISTEN TO:
In my last issue I mentioned that the releases for that week were lackluster and that there was not much I was anticipating or interested in listening to. That changed last week however with two albums I had been waiting for.
First, my Alabama Shakes boo Brittany Howard released her debut album, Jamie and I’m in love. I’m honestly not surprised – Brittany’s voice is EVERYTHING. This album is beautiful and a perfect debut. I haven’t been able to stop playing “Baby” and “Tomorrow.”
The second album I was waiting for was the release of Jack Harlow’s Confetti. Ever since I heard "Sundown" I've been following Jack. He always has tight production - heavy bass, and this album follow suits. It's just a good time vibe!
Here comes a random Mandy Moore appreciation session. Last week, Mandy released her new single after ten years, “When I Wasn’t Watching,” and if you know me, like really, really know me, you know I was amped. I love the song and am happier that my girl is coming back in a music capacity as she’s been killing it on This Is Us. Around the same time, People released a list of Mandy’s 11 best songs and I didn’t agree with the rankings – so I decided to make a list of some of my favorite Mandy songs. Play them and think of me.
So Real // Walk Me Home // Cry // Crush // I Wanna Be With You // From Loving You // Candy // Not Too Young // Breaking Us In Two
In Podcast land, I listened to a good episode of The Cut on Tuesday’s called “Hi It’s Us Your 30-Long-Lost Siblings.” The podcast episode was about siblings who didn’t know each other but ended up finding that they were siblings because of sperm donors. It was fascinating to me – most of them all lived in the Bay Area and found out about each other on 23 and Me. I just thought it was super interesting.

Young Black Votes to Their Biden-Supporting Parents: ‘Is This Your King?’
I’m still not sure who I will be voting for during the election, at this point I just know two things: I will be voting, and I’m not educated on each candidate’s opinions to make an informed decision today. I’ll get there, don’t you worry. I did find this article to be compelling though:
“If Mr. Biden, 76, is going to win the Democratic nomination, it is likely to be because of the support of older black voters, a key constituency for the party and one that polls show is overwhelmingly supportive of the former vice president’s candidacy.”
Jonathan Van Ness of ‘Queer Eye’ Comes Out
I loved this article and how vulnerable Jonathan was. This quote left a lasting impression on me as well, “… but I want people to realize you’re never too broken to be fixed.”
I Was Andrew Yang’s First ‘Freedom Dividend’ Recipient – When He Fired Me
Wow. Literally. Not good. Imagine getting married and coming back from your honeymoon to be fired because you got married. He told her that he didn’t feel she would continue working hard because she was now a wife. WTF?
