Podcasts, Moonchild & more
HAPPY TUESDAY!
Hope you had a great weekend - mines was nice and relaxing full of Hennessy Sangrias and more. Here are a few of the things I was loving during the week. Please read, listen and share some recommendations with me .
Also, can I just say I'm one step closer to becoming an organization influencer. If you know me, you know planners are my thing, and every year I get a Passion Planner (along with six other planners - don't judge me ). What I've always loved about Passion Planners is that they allow you to see everything on one page, but also help you achieve goals in different time increments.
I say all this to say, I'm now a Passion Planner ambassador.
Just think of me as your Passion Pusher.
I both typed and said that like I was an extra in Clipse "Grindin." Nonetheless, if you're interested in getting a Passion Planner, or learning more about it - check out my link.
WHAT I'M LISTENING TO:
I've been listening to a lot of greatness since the last time I sent this newsletter out and here are just a few of those things. First, I loved listening to these two podcast episodes:
Death, Sex & Money Episode: Raphael Saadiq: Music Had to Be My Therapy
Girlboss Radio Episode: Interview with Huda Kattan of Huda Beauty
Although much of Raphael's promo run and interviews for his latest album, Jimmy Lee, have been redundant I still really enjoy the storytelling he shares throughout the interviews. Lately, Girlboss Radio has had some pretty good interviews and this follows suit. I've followed Huda Kattan, her sisters, and Huda Beauty for awhile and I loved how chill she was in this interview. Not to mention she's a Libra like yours truly.
I've also started listening to two new podcasts: The Journal from Wall Street Journal, and Family Secrets with Dani Shapiro and so far, so good. Check them both out.
In terms of music, I've been revisiting some older music in particular, Charlotte Day Wilson's Stone Woman EP. I initially heard Charlotte on Daniel Caesar's Freudian album on the song, "Transform," and went to find all her other music. But yes, Stone Woman is so good if you haven't listened to it. I keep playing "Let You Down." Even though I've listened to this song for a good chunk of this year, and last, on Thursday of last week I re-fell in love with it. Literally listened to the song about 50+ times in one day.
Go hard or go home apparently is my motto, but Charlotte's voice is the bomb.
In other bomb voice news, my boo who I'm always talking about here, Sasha Keable just released a new single "Loyalty," and I love it. Sasha posted the song on Instagram and said she wrote this song in the darkest place she's been in.
Moonchild released their new album, Little Ghost, and I’m loving it. Moonchild’s music always makes me really, really happy. I remember seeing them live a few years ago and the lead singer was playing all these instruments and would put them down and start singing again. I was like sis, go off. Now I’m a life long fan and this album just feels and sounds so good. Also, can I just say going from “What You’re Doing” to “Come Over,” to “Onto Me,” as a sequence was perfect—a vibe.
Lastly, Mahalia finally released her new album and like all the singles that she’s released it’s pretty good. I suggest you listen to it too!
Bonus: If you know me, you know I'm a Jeopardy fanatic. I've been watching the show since I was a little kiddo and still, I watch it every night - hence why I'm so smart. That being said, look at this great creation, a soundboard of positive affirmations from Alex!
WHAT I'M READING:
First and foremost, I finally finished Three Women by Lisa Taddeo, please read this book. I was skeptical because of all the buzz. I've found that lately the new books everyone talks about I haven't really enjoyed but this book was everything people said it was: interesting, compelling, captivating... I could keep going. But please, read it.
Here are a few of the articles that I read throughout the week:
