Dreams do come true, for Dylan.
DREAMS DO COME TRUE .
Do you remember like two weeks ago I mentioned that I was watching Making the Band on YouTube? Well if your memory is good you will, and yesterday, Diddy announced the show is coming back.
All I can think of is a few things:
First, these lyrics “Something happens when you touch me, I get open, and my legs start trembling.” Via Sarah Making the band Season 1.
Secondly, these lyrics, “We’re in the car, we ride slow, we doin’ things that the girls don’t do.” Via Danity Kane.
Third, "Your my best friend." This moment (I can't find the video--next week I'll share) between Aubrey and Andrea solidified their friendship that slowly deteriorated by the end of the show. This scene for me is peak MTV, almost like when Lauren cried on the Hills and that single mascara filled tear fell on her cheek (I'm not watching The Hills reboot anymore because she's not on it).
Lastly, DYLAN, DYLAN, DYLAN.
That’s all my notes for memory lane—in the meantime, still watch Making the Band on YouTube, as well as Girlfriends.
WHAT I LISTENED TO:
Last week, I listened to some great things including the following podcasts:
Call Your Girlfriend episode "Adult Sex Education"
The Worst with Greta Titelman "Yolo Season" episode with Jilly Hendrix - two parts of my favorite ever podcast, Lady Lovin
Jemele Hill is Unbothered Podcast with La La Anthony "Hustlers Never Sleep"
In music news, my longtime boo Big K.R.I.T released his new album, K.R.I.T IZ HERE and I'm in love. Literally, in love. I listened to this album on Friday seven times in a row and didn't skip any songs. I knew from the lead single, "K.R.I.T HERE" I was going to enjoy this album but it blew my expectations out the water. Not only does K.R.I.T lyrically show growth, the production on the album is solid.
In other music news, my other boo, Sasha Keable just released the video for one of my favorite songs, "Under Your Skin" from her EP The Man, and it makes me love the song more. I love the diverse relationships shown in the video. Watch it here, but still make sure to stream her EP.
WHAT I READ:
I finally finished reading Queenie and I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5. I found as a protagonist, Queenie was annoying. She kept making dumb mistakes where you just wanted to shake her and say OMG stop. She seemed like she needed mail attention even if it was problematic and some of the themes the author tried to incorporate were not included. Also, some of the explanation into why Queenie was the way she was, were explained so far in the book that I was already over her.
Have you read it? If so, let me know your thoughts—also let me know what’s on your summer reading list.
This week, I’m starting The Farm by Joanne Ramos. Follow along—let’s discuss. In other reading news, here are a few of the things I read this week:
