Let's be nostalgic...
Happy first of the month. I'll spare you my Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony reference even though my heart wanted to say it. I know I'm not alone with the happiness that February is over. Between Jussie Smollett and Jordyn Woods, I'm exhausted.
This weekend though, I'm going to tap into nostalgia courtesy Solange and make a Blackplanet account. I used to have so much fun on Blackplanet curating fire songs for my pages that played in the background and posting all the cute pictures my overly lined and clear lip-gloss self could muster.
Blackplanet also was a great time in social media. Early social media, the prehistoric dating sites, were fun. We could go on Blackplanet, Myspace, CPixel or Onchat and meet people and just have fun and the most drama that existed was who to put in your Top 8. Now, people take social media too seriously--I think I got blocked for answering something online in a joking manner--or put up some sort of facade for the net. Just chill out people. Take a chill pill. Journal. Drink some wine. Find some self-care--likes shouldn't be your source of self care.
That was me on my soap box all to say, catch me in the BP streets--hopefully I'll be able to reprise my old namesake DiZLiLDyMe. Can I also just say, the typing the letters like that is overly consuming and hurts my tendinitis prune fingers.

CURRENTLY LISTENING:
This weekend I watched the new Teddy Pendergrass documentary, "If You Don't Know Me" on Showtime. I watched the documentary with my boyfriend, but had many thoughts throughout the documentary. First, Teddy definitely pulled off the short sleeve, bell bottoms thing in a way that still looked very sexy. I think it was his arms, or as the woman in the documentary said when asked about what she loved about him: "His body. His body. His body." My second thought was something that I've always thought--Teddy's voice is unmatched. The men in this generation have nothing on him, or Marvin, or Jeffrey.
The last thought I had while watching this documentary is that if I were alive in this generation, I would have so many children. All the little babies.
In other music news, I stand by Van Hunt's "Second of Pleasure" being one of the sexiest songs ever. However, I'm pretty sure that Gary Clark Jr's, "I Got My Eyes On You (Lock & Loaded)" will be added into this list. Speaking of Van Hunt, let's walk down memory lane and listen to the time I interviewed him. Summer Walker is my alter ego I think. She not only has a great voice, but her songs are things I wish I could say. Her single "Girls Need Love" inspired my playlist here, and now the Champagne Papi himself, Drake hopped on the remix. What are your thoughts? Also, can we discuss how much of a bop "Grave" is from her too? Bop is such an odd thing to call a song, but the young people do it.
Anderson Paak is releasing Ventura next month, April 12th--quick but I'm excited. Although Dilla month is officially over, this mix from Soulection featuring J. Rocc is everything.
Also, NEW SASHA KEABLE!!!!! She's my boo--I hate that you can only access her music in London or something. Well her other music, but listen to this--in love.
