Light work, light work.
CONNECT WITH ME ON THE INTERWEBS
This week, I’m going to do things a little different since I wrote so much last week—sorry I thought it was going to be a mild week last week. For the week, I am going to attempt to write a little bit less… starting now.
Have you ever read something that made you instantly want to cry? That’s how I felt when I read this article on Essence by writer Amy Elisa Jackson who became a widow at 32—something you never really want to think about. This part really hit me when she talks about not wanting a new life after loss:
“I’m in the Bay Area because it’s my home, it’s our home. I feel close to Jeremiah here. This is where we built our life. I see him in so many places, on so many corners, in restaurants, in neighborhoods, in bars, on basketball courts, on streets we used to walk, on BART stops we would frequent, in parks we kissed in, in apartments where we made promises and pots of chili, in Ubers and Munis and arenas and taquerias and tailgates and farmers markets, with friends who became family who then became legacy holders. I am here because we were here because he is here. From Lake Merritt to North Beach, the Farm to the Fillmore, this will always be the capital of the state of Jeremiah & Amy.”
Every week since I started listening to/finishing Slate’s Podcast, Slow Burn on the Clinton Administration, I feel like I keep writing about it here and this week will be no different. On Sunday, The Clinton Affair three-part documentary airs—and I’m ready to have my tea and fingers ready to tweet. It should be interesting—Monica Lewinsky was even interviewed, and she doesn’t really talk about the scandal so much anymore. Look at the trailer here, also read Monica’s new Vanity Fair interview here.
Next week's will be full of stuff--so many albums coming out: Mariah Carey, City Girls, Anderson Paak but until then, read some of my additional reads below:
